Chris Blume, 2023

Geography and Environmental Systems (GES)

Chris Blume is a recent ICARE NRT graduate who’s research project aimed use native bats species to look at the distribution of heavy metal pollution around Baltimore City. He collected and sampled bat guano from roosting sites to use for my analysis. To increase bat populations, roosting sites, and sampling opportunities, Chris installed bat houses at locations around the city. By collaborating with local parks, urban farms and gardens, Chris hoped to better understand the distribution and impact of pollution in these areas as well as foster ecological stewardship within these communities.
