Geography and Environmental Systems (GES)
The aim of my research project was to use native bats species to look at the distribution of heavy metal pollution around Baltimore City. I collected and sampled bat guano from roosting sites to use for my analysis. To increase bat populations, roosting sites, and sampling opportunities, I installed bat houses at locations around the city. By collaborating with local parks, urban farms and gardens I hope to better understand the distribution and impact of pollution in these areas as well as foster ecological stewardship within these communities.
